This board has standards. As a Christian, I will not tolerate blasphemy against Jesus. That is just the way it is.

Censorship is not wrong. You do not have the right to shout "fire!" in a crowded theater. You do not have the right to accuse someone unjustly. You do not have the right to lie to your friends. You do not have the right to post pedophilia, bestiality, other forms of perverse pornography at your work do you? Why don't you complain about the censorship there? Or do you have a double standard? Do you tolerate it at work, but disapprove on someone's board?

Free speech does not mean that anything goes. Free speech must have limits which should be self imposed by the speakers who use sound judgment. I do not go to work and start preaching, I am required to censor myself. I do not go to the abortion clinics and get a bull horn and shout at people. I censor myself. I do not call you or anyone else profanities. I censor myself.

I am not intolerant and afraid. I have a standard and I defend it. If I were intolerant and afraid, I would never have put up these boards for those of opposing views to come and post their thoughts.

Freedom of speech is no permit to be purposely offensive and vile and I will not tolerate it on MY boards. They are not your boards and they aren't anyone elses. I have the right to do with them as I wish.

I allow all kinds of disagreements on these boards. Many things are said that I completely disagree with and I do not delete the posts.

However, there are board rules and you should read them. If you cannot abide by them, then you don't need to come in here. If you don't have a problem with them, then fine.

You are welcome to post. But, unlike many people on the Internet, I have a high standard. I draw the line at offending my Lord Jesus. I draw the line at foul and perverse language. I draw the line at pornography.

And I will enforce it.

Just thought you should know, a regular poster at CARM (Pope Reverend I), has provided a link to CARM on CyberBlasphemy - The Lounge that uses the "anonymizer". It will have the affect of overriding the security measures that you are implementing. By following the link, it masks the users IP # by assigning random numbers. You will not be able to ban a "spamer" by his IP #'s because each time, the #'s will change.

Your "friends" at Cyber Blasphemy are: Pope Reverend I, BV, Matt Slickster, DLH, Freud , Q, Nikkal, Jade, Floyd, Agrippa, Scalpel
You can see the link by going toposted by (Pope Reverend I, BV 16:07:40 8/22/98)

Good luck sir.

Hi there,

A couple of days ago, SGTex had a very good post.
I believe it is good to share it and post it again.

SGTex said to Jeff N.,
"I am an anti-Christian humanist extremist and what you have heard is not exactly true...

Hello, Jeff N.
I see webmaster has already replied to the charge of censorship. He's routinely taken to task about deleting for taste and decency, and when he sees debate
deteriorate into rancorous personal bickering and name-calling.
Recently he clarified the rules for posting here. "Censorship" is a strong word for what he does; it is his board, no law or custom requires him to display shockingly
decadent and offensive material, if he'd rather not. The kind of license you appear to advocate would endanger the order and dignity that this guy is trying to
maintain.
No, if "those with differing opinions" were expelled, you wouldn't have such a motley band of cut-throats...I have urgently expounded that the Bible is wrong and
false. It doesn't get deleted. You can advocate and proselytize any hellborn cultish doctrine and not get deleted."

Thanks SGTex !!! :o)

Although SGTex and I have different believes, we can still discuss things peacefully
and fruitfully. On this censorship matter, I agree with SGTex very much.
I have been with CARM's discussion boards since their beginnings. I witnessed their developments.
At first there were no rules, no censorship at all.
But some 'naughty' (perhaps I should use 'hateful') participants later joined
and began their mockeries, insults, personal attacks, rancorous quarrels ...
Once even someone posted some pornos here. Matt was forced to enforce censorship here.
I believe Matt has been doing his best on keeping his boards in orders.
Yes, they are Matt's boards.
Some of you may say that he is the tyrant here deleting all posts he hates.
But I will say that Matt is protecting his boards from being abused.

In Christ,
Terry

OK, here's a little word lesson for the whiners. It's about the word "censorship". Matt has not censored anyone. In fact, it is quite impossible for him to do so. He does not have the power. The power to censor only lies with a) monopolies or b) governments. Here's why:

One definition of censorship is;

censorship - the prevention of publication, transmission, or exhibition of material considered undesirable for the general public to possess or be exposed to. This can include the censorship, in the national interest, of military secrets, or of obscene material.

Now, can Matt prevent publication, transmission or exhibition of such material? The answer, students, is NO. Matt does not have the power. Let me tell you why, via an example commonly found in most college courses on the subject.

A) If Matt owns a magazine stand and decides not to sell Sports Illustrated, is that censorship? NO.
B) If Matt owns ALL the magazine stands in the country and decides not to sell Sports Illustrated, is that censorship? YES, because he exercises a monopolistic power.
C) If Matt is the government and tells all magazine stands not to sell Sports Illustrate, is that censorship? YES, because he now has the power.

The reason that any given magazine is not sold at any given newstand is CHOICE. Matt has this power, to choose what he allows on the board he built and pays for. You don't like it, cya...
